Have you seen this year’s commemorative €2 coin, only the third of its kind to be jointly issued by all Eurozone countries. Issued in January, it celebrates a decade of euro banknotes and coins, which entered circulation in 2002. The first jointly issued €2 coin, in March 2007, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome and the second, in January 2009, celebrated the 10th anniversary of Economic and Monetary Union. Typically these celebrate the anniversaries of historical or current events, such as the first one ever issued by any country, by Greece to commemorate the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
